Por curiosidad pregunté a los señores de Charles Tyrwhitt por qué en su web no aparece por ningún lado que sus camisas están fabricadas en China. He aquí la respuesta:

Dear Mr

Thank you for your email. We understand that customers may be interested in where our products are made and we are happy to provide this information.

There are many factors to consider when choosing the best place to manufacture a product – technical ability, quality, price and reliability of supplier to name but a few. We have learnt over the years that it is best for both quality and price to manufacture products in those areas which have the greatest expertise. This means we make our products in various countries offering different specialties.

There are very few manufacturers in the UK and they cannot offer us good quality shirts such as ours; we find that in particular China has better production methods of our shirts. They can continue to create our British shirts, with our cut and sizing specification that all of our customers desire.

Please be assured that although the shirts are not necessarily manufactured in the UK, the quality of our shirts has not declined. This is certainly not the case, and in fact we would go as far as saying this is the opposite, as we are always looking at ways to improve. Our current suppliers are hand-picked based on the quality provided to us and the conditions of the factories themselves. We have members of our Buying Team who monitor the standards of these specifications on a regular basis.

I hope this information has been helpful and means you can continue to purchase from us in confidence. If there is anything else we can help you with, please feel free to get in touch.

Kind regards
