Opiniones sobre Barbour

Clásicos, clásicos: Bedale, Beaufort, International Classic, Liddesdale, Border, Northumbia, además de algunos descatalogados como el Solaway o la Cowen Commando (esta última la reeditaron hace un par de años) y alguno más que tengo en mente pero no recuerdo el nombre ahora.

Clásicos más recientes: Ashby, Commander, Duke, Bedale SL, Chelsea...

Partiendo de esa base hay muchos modelos de la marca que en esencia se parecen a los anteriores pero cambian la disposición de los bolsillos, el entalle, el largo, etc.

Edito: creía que preguntabas por “clásicos” y no por “básicos”. En cuanto a bàsicos y si tuviera que volver a empezar mi colección lo haría con una Duke sage, una Bedale/Beaufort en navy y la International en negro además de los chalecos de pelito/polar fundamentales para darle calidez en invierno a los modelos compatibles con ellos. Y si te apetece cambiar y que no sean todas enceradas está la Heritage Liddesdale que básicamente es la Liddesdale acolchada clásica pero con fit mucho más actual y entallado.

Gran explicación Sureño, mejor explicado imposible.. la ashby que es como la bedale sl? La Heritage Liddesdale es polarquilt? O no abriga apenas? La duke cual color es el que mejor le sienta? Sage?

Para mi, sus modelos clásicos, utilitarios en su mayoría, que fueron creados para el campo, la caza y el motociclismo: son realmente atemporales. Ahí están las Bedale, Beaufort, Border, International Classic, etc. En general, las chaquetas que se siguen haciendo en UK, las demás son de Bulgaria, Turquia, Tunez...

Sin embargo, como muchos prefieren fits mas ajustados, mas urbanos, lejos de lo que fueron en su origen, han surgido nuevos modelos que son en su mayoría reinterpretaciones de los originales en donde han buscado responder a las demandas del mercado en cuanto a fits mas ajustados, nuevos materiales, tendencias en el cine o regionales como los modelos para el mercado asiático y Japón, particularmente.

Hay varios hilos en el foro donde se habla de modelos particulares, sus características, fit y como tallan: usa el buscador con "Barbour" y tendrás un amplio repertorio.

Efectivamente, algunos modelos se siguen fabricando en South Shields: la etiqueta de aquellas que son fabricadas en Inglaterra así lo indica:

A diferencia de aquellas que no lo son, donde no dice nada en cuanto a su origen:

A finales del 2015 escribí directamente a Barbour preguntando acerca del tema: esto fue lo que me contestaron:

Barbour has been producing wax cotton jackets in South Shields in the North East of England since 1894. Product quality is of paramount importance to us and the benefit of having a factory in South Shields is that it gives us control over our product, flexibility and allows us to focus on attention to detail. The longevity of the brand is based on the quality and durability of the product. We produce between 130-140,000 classic wax jackets a year through the factory and we are committed to the manufacture of jackets in South Shields.

Our main jackets that are manufactured in the UK are the Barbour bedale, beadnell and the beaufort.

However, we treat these factories just like our own; we provide everything to the factory in terms of raw material, technical information and even cutting patterns and our technical and quality people visit frequently.

Please rest assured that whilst some of our garments are manufactured overseas, this is not without a vast amount of input from our Sourcing, Product Development and Quality teams as we would not compromise on the quality of our products.

Puestos a sacarla a ver quién la tiene más larga, yo puedo decir que tengo 4. Duke, Lutz, Border y Beaufort. Calidad, durabilidad e incluso precio - si buscas alguna ofertilla- inmejorable. Te durarán toda la vida cuidándolas mínimamente.

Barbour siempre es la mejor compra.

Entonces los modelos Bedale, Beaufort, Border, International Classic... son fabricados en un UK no?

Yo tengo la international y es... algo tosca, es más creo que es adecuada para alguien que usa mucho moto. Yo la he usado alguna vez con mi vespa. Pero tiene detalles de calidad increíbles, el enguatado interior aparte de ser precioso está hecho de una calidad excepcional, las cremalleras te pueden cortar un dedo, botones, cuellos, puños, etc.
Comparando con Belstaff, creo que Belstaff está un pasito por encima pero creo que el encanto de las Barbour son inigualables. También, creo que relación calidad precio es mucho mejor Barbour, es más relación calidad precio creo que Barbour es de las mejores marcas que hay.

Me gusta más Belstaff pero calidad precio de Barbour no tiene rival y en algunos acabados ves que hay calidad y mucha.

Tengo la Lutz, Beaufort, Utility y una Steeve Mcqueen descatalogada (https://www.michaelstewart.co.uk/clo...x-jacket-p2803 ) que uso bastante.

Recomiendo que si no tienes compres una pero en tiendas online inglesas no en España que te la clavan. Eso sí, no se si después del Brexit estarán al mismo precio así que aprovecha.
